Bicycle: the History by David V. Herlihy (Yale University Press, 2004)

Bicycle: the History David Herlihy and Yale University Press have created a book considered by many to be both elegant and striking. Some consider this literary work to be a coffee table book. A book on the history of the bicycle, it is substantial, illustrated richly and worthy of examination at 470 pages. If you have read this book or others like it, please post a comment here.

"Herlihy's prodigious research is always entertaining, as are the period illustrations that copiously grace the volume. " -Edward Koren, The New York Times

Do you know of any really great books on vintage bicycles? Please leave a comment and let me know. I am also looking for posters and magazines displaying vintage bicycle advertisements.
I came across this image while browsing the Internet. I do not know if it is from a magazine or if it was a poster. Does anyone out there know the origins of this bicycle art?

I am an artist with an interest in recreating the artwork of these vintage posters and would love any comments from anyone who could point me in the right direction.
